Microsoft Online Services Directory Synchronization Tool – This tool will allow you to synchronize with existing mailboxes. During this process, Online Services user accounts are marked as disabled; they cannot send or receive e-mail and they do not consume licenses. You must select and activate these users when you are ready to assign Exchange Server mailboxes.
Important Note: If synchronizing your local directory using the Synchronization Tool, you must edit all synchronized objects (user accounts and e-mail enabled contacts and groups) in your local Active Directory using the Active Directory Users and Computers Microsoft Management Console snap-in. You can edit synchronized contacts and groups in Microsoft Online Services, but changes made through Microsoft Online Services will be overwritten the next time directory synchronization runs.
